Harsch, The Art of Moving, since 1957

Harsch, The Art of Moving, is a family business founded in 1957 by Henri Harsch. We originally specialized in the packing and transport of works of art and antiques.

Henri HARSCH started the business specialising in the handling, packing and shipping of Fine Arts all over the world. His son, Bertrand Harsch, joined the Company in 1973 and focused, in particular, on developing the international moving side of the business. Bertrand is now the President of the Company.

In 1988 he appointed Mr. Jean-Bernard Blanc as General Manager, in 2006 Ms. Dominique Mundia as Sales and Marketing Manager and in 2002 Mr.Claudio Panno as manager. Gérard Kohler as Fine Arts Manager.

Customers trusted and valued our professional skills, and wanted the same high quality service for other items of importance to them, namely their personal and professional belongings and furniture. This led to a significant expansion of our business in the field of local and international moving.

On May7, 1998 our new premises were inaugurated in Geneva (Carouge). They offer premier quality storage and high security for Fine Arts and for record storage. They complement our container warehouse in Gland, just outside Geneva, which was opened in 1989 and is used for household goods storage.

In 1999, we opened our offices and warehouses in Zurich.

 

In 2002 our office in Basel was opened. Our branches in the German-speaking part of Switzerland have undergone constant expansion, thus permitting us to cover Switzerland in its entirety with the same high quality standards that have forged our reputation in Geneva.

In 2005, Harsch, The Art of Moving, set up a Relocation Department to meet the needs of international companies in Switzerland.

In September 2010, we opened a new Sales Office in Lausanne to meet the burgeoning demand from our customers in the Canton of Vaud. The office mainly handles relocation and moving services, and also offers solutions for Archiving and Works of Art.

Our company has been through a period of strong growth these past years, consistently expanding our market share both in Geneva and in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. At present, in 2004, our company’s solid presence continues in the national and international household goods moving sector, in the packing and the international shipping of Fine Arts. We are also regularly increasing our presence in the office moving and record storage sector. These are activities that are coherent with the nature and the quality of our other fields of specialisation and that have a very promising future..
